| People Full-Time Faculty Walt Alan Stoy, Ph.D., EMT-P, CCEMT-P Professor and Program Administrative Director Walt Alan Stoy, Ph.D, EMT-P, CCEMTP is Professor and Director of Emergency Medicine at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh and the Director of Educational and International Emergency Medicine at the Center for Emergency Medicine. Dr. Stoy has a proven track record for national project design, development implementation and evaluation. Dr. Stoy has served as the Project Director of the 1998 EMT-Intermediate & Paramedic: National Standard Curricula Revision Project He was the Principal Investigator for National Guidelines for the First Aid Training Curriculum. He has served as Principal Investigator to the 1994 EMT-Basic: National Standard Curriculum and Project Director to the 1995 First Responder: National Standard Curriculum. His revision to and adoption by the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of these curricula are internationally recognized. Doctor Stoy is internationally renowned for his efforts in EMS and is recognized by his peers and colleagues as a groundbreaker and national leader in the field of EMS education. He has shared his views of EMS education in all areas of EMS to the National Association of State EMS Directors, the National Association of EMTs, the National Association of EMS Physicians, the National Association of EMS Educators, and the National Council of State EMS Training Coordinators. He has over twenty-five years of experience in EMS. He was awarded his Doctorate of Philosophy in Education from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Education in Instruction and Learning with a concentration in Instructional Design Technology. Dr. Stoy served as the founding President of the National Association of EMS Educators. Doctor Stoy has written more than sixty instructional guides and published his educational work using both print and visual media including Instructional Guides for the Street Medicine Series, the Hands On Series, and the ACLS Series. He has authored Mosby's EMT-Basic Textbook and Mosby’s First Responder Textbook, which is the textbook that most closely follows the National Standard Curricula. Doctor Stoy is an Affiliate Faculty Member or Instructor in numerous pre-hospital and medical education programs, including: Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Trauma Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support. Thomas E. Platt, MEd, NREMT-P, CCEMTP Assistant Professor and Program Director As the Associate Director of Education, Mr. Platt manages all of the EMS-related education programs sponsored by the Center. Mr. Platt is an Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Mr. Platt has an undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and Master’s Degree in Adult Education from Penn State University. He is currently pursing a doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Education. S. Robert Seitz, MEd, RN, NREMT-P Assistant Professor As Clinical Coordinator of Education, Mr. Seitz oversees all aspects of clinical experiences for the Paramedic Program at the Center for Emergency Medicine. Mr. Seitz is an Assistant Professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Mr. Seitz received a Bachelors degree in Emergency Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh and is completing a Masters Degree in Adult Education from the Pennsylvania State University. Debra Lejeune, MEd, NREMT-P Instructor Ms. Lejeune has been involved in EMS education for the past 12 years, and currently serves as an instructor in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh and for the Center for Emergency Medicine in Pittsburgh, PA. Ms. Lejeune teaches courses in airway, trauma management, medication administration and research methods. Ms. Lejeune also works with JEMS magazine to publish monthly continuing education articles. She received her Master’s Degree in Research Methodology from the University of Pittsburgh and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Epidemiology through the Graduate School of Public Health, University of Pittsburgh. Benjamin Abo, BS, NREMT-P, CCEMT-P, FP-C Coordinator, Education and International Emergency Medicine As a Coordinator of Education and International Emergency Medicine, Mr. Abo oversees, administrates and teaches various programs including CPR, ACLS, and EVOC classes, public relations and assists with the other various programs at the Center for Emergency Medicine. Additionally, with eight years of EMS experience in New Jersey, Pittsburgh and Ireland, Mr. Abo also keeps an active role as a prehospital paramedic. Mr. Abo has an undergraduate degree in Emergency Medicine having graduated from the Emergency Medicine Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. Michael Hahn, BS, NREMT-P, CCEMT-P Coordinator, Education and International Emergency Medicine As a Coordinator of Education and International Emergency Medicine Mr. Hahn works with Korean EMT-Intermediate Students at the center and is also the Project Coordinator for the RaPiD-T project which is a WMD training program created by Dr. Michael Allswede. Mr. Hahn has an undergraduate degree in Emergency Medicine having graduated from the Emergency Medicine Program at University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, and is now pursuing a graduate certificate in Public Health Preparedness and Disaster Response at the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. Owen Traynor, MD Medical Director In his role as Medical Director, Dr. Traynor oversees all aspects of the didactic paramedic education. Dr. Traynor is an attending physician and Instructor for the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. Sheila G. Roth, MSW., PhD Program Counselor Dr. Roth provides counseling and support services for students enrolled in the Center's Paramedic Program. Dr. Roth received her Masters in Social Work and her Doctorate in Administrative and Policy Studies.
